Flat 2 is a cosy one bedroom, ground floor flat, again offering self-catering accommodation. The door of the Flat opens into a kitchen lounge with leather sofa, flat screen freeview tv, the well stocked kitchen includes dishwasher, microwave, and washer/dryer. There is a cosy bedroom with double bed and quality bed linen. A fully tiled bathroom with heated towel rail, bath and over bath shower completes the accommodation.
You are steps from traditional pubs, restaurants, shops and the race course. Horse racing at Cartmel dates back to 1856. Race meetings are held on Spring and Summer Bank Holiday Weekends. There are a total of seven race days this year.
The village of Cartmel is packed with historic features. The Priory, dating back from the 12th Century, attracts over 60,000 visitors a year. A medieval Gatehouse dated 1330 overlooks the square. The Market Cross, Fish Slabs and Water Pump still remain in the heart of this lakeland village.
During your stay in Cartmel, look around the village and surrounding areas. The seaside town of Grange-Over-Sands, Holker Hall & Gardens, Haverthwaite Railway, Levens Hall and Lake Windermere and Coniston are all nearby. There are also local walks in the woods and on the surrounding fells around Cartmel, having magnificent views of the Lake District and sands of Morecambe Bay.
There are a selection of shops in Cartmel, from clothes, gifts,hand made chocolates, perfumes and soaps, books,art and antiques. Unsworths Yard, near the priory, houses a cheese shop and the Bread Shed.The Red Pepper on Devonshire Square has some wonderful wines to choose from. On the 3rd Friday of every month Cartmel also hosts a food market.Cartmel Village Shop, the home of Sticky Toffee Pudding, will make up a picnic hamper for you if you wish of delicious foods, wines and soft drinks - all chosen from their shop. It also has a recently opened tea room situated just above the shop. Cartmel also boasts a well established Spa. Harmony offers a huge range of treatments just perfect for your relaxing break.
Cartmel is also home to a variety of traditional Lakeland inns, with the extremely welcoming Cavendish Arms just across the road, tea rooms and a brasserie, not to mention the internationally acclaimed Michelin Two Star restaurant, L’Enclume, which is literally only steps away.
